Maharishi Gandharva Veda Music Concerts to Create Peace

By Alesia Lloyd / MUM review

Friday, May 14, 1999, a series of Maharishi Gandharva Veda music concerts started in Fairfield, Iowa, USA. The reduced fee is designed to draw as large an audience as possible to the series of  Maharishi Gandharva Veda concerts being held to help end the violence in Kosovo. "We are holding concerts once every weekend until the violence stops," said John Runkle, director of the Maharishi Gandharva Veda Music Institute.

According to Mr. Runkle, the quality of the influence of the music is proportional to the number of listeners, and the harmonizing influence resonates in the consciousness of the listeners, thereby multiplying the effect of coherence in the environment. "Because the music is a very silent level of music, there is a lot of harmony that goes out into the environment and produces peaceful influences to help change the tendency towards aggression in this country," Mr. Runkle said. Upcoming concert dates will be posted at Everybody's, Annapurna, and the Domes, in Fairfield. "We are very fortunate to have such wonderful musicians to help enliven harmony in our environment," Mr. Runkle said.
